Melancholy Blues

I'm not complete with out you.
I cant succeed you know its true.

With this lonesome melancholy blue.

Last night laid awake I saw a vision of your face.
I'm so weary and not sure what to do.

Chorus
You got me thinking while I'm in this state.
What else I'm gonna do.

Though my feelings may seem misplaced.
I cant seem to live without you.

I need to find some peace of mind.
Stand up tall and keep on trying.

For my baby feels Ive done her some wrong.

I count the hours since we've been apart.
I cant control my aching heart.

Though the minuets keep on rolling past.

Chorus
You got me thinking while I'm in this state.
What else I'm gonna do.

I'm not complete with out you.
I cant succeed you know its true.

With this lonesome melancholy blue.

I'm so lonesome melancholy and blue.
I'm so lonesome melancholy and blue.
I'm so lonesome melancholy and blue.

Hi Rob,

I like this a lot! It reminds me somewhat of the Sons of the Pioneers...

Nice job on the harmonies. I especially like the chord progression and the way the dobro plays against it. You won't find an instrument much more lonesome and melancholy than the dobro, so it was a good choice for the song.

This is my favorite song from you so far.

I like the interesting chord progression in the verses.

Just a note: when typing the words, try grouping the lines. What I mean is, place all 5 lines in the verse together with no spaces. Stack all 4 in the chorus the same way. It makes it easier to grasp at a glance where one is in the song.

Good stuff Rob. Really nice flow. Enjoyed it very much!

As an aside and this is meant only to help you - posters get more listens and comments when they post one or two songs at a time and let those run their course before posting another. It's easy to get excited and post five, ten or fifteen songs on the board in a week but that's not the best way to get those songs heard by the most people. smile

I love how expressive your singing is. You're great fun to listen to.

And yes, it's got that "Elvis" vibe.

Thanks for posting!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I also hear the Elvis! It's that tight vibrato at the end of the phrase that's very signature. Vocal is very natural. I love the chord progression-simple but infectious. This is also my favorite of yours, although by next week you may top it! At this rate, you're going to have a greatest hits CD out by March first. Great job! Take care. Greg

Hi I have sort of unwittingly styles my self on Dean Martin Roy Orbison (No high notes) some Elvis the Beatles and Ricky Nelson.
I sort of naturally sing the way I do but not really trying to copy either, if that makes scene.
