Black And White Movies

I watched Casablanca last night
Some things just never get stale
You loved candlelight
Never thought that we would fail
Your eyes searching my face
Your breath quick in my ear
Rocked in your embrace
There was nothing to fear

Safe in the knowledge that you understood my mind
There’s nothing of more value you can find
Safe in the knowledge that I’d always have a friend
Ain’t it funny how that kind of thing can end?

Had a glass or two of good red wine
Smiled about that bottle that we stole
Thought about your body next to mine
Thought about the stories that we told
Never seemed to get our timing right
It was never meant to be
Slam the door, shoot out the light
Let the darkness cover me

Safe in the knowledge that you understood my mind
There’s nothing of more value you can find
Safe in the knowledge that I’d always have a friend
Ain’t it funny how that kind of thing can end?

Safe in the knowledge that I’d always have a friend
Ain’t it funny how that kind of thing can end?

Peter,

Very nice melody and lyrics. Good vocal by Leon. Had a cool Paul Simon vibe to it for me. I really enjoyed this.

Peter,
Very good song!
The lyrics are well crafted ( such a great opening line!), and the vocals by Leon warm and natural.
Nice guitar break at the end.
Your production is topnotch as usual.

This sounds real good! Also one of Leon's best vocals to date.

Peter/Leon,

A nice write, guys. It has an interesting "casual" feel to it - the lyrics have a nice "flow".

Nice arrangement and mix. Really like the sound of the reggae organ for this (never considered using that - thanks!).

Cool guitar outro...

Enjoyed it.

Strong write! It's hard to shake loose of those lines. Like mr jane said "causal and flowy feel." It seems to move along like a gentle stream. The entire production works for us in all aspects. Nice vocal, choice of RT's, mix and as several have mentioned the outro just nails it.

J&B

PS floyd has mentioned it....but, yeah, the use of that reggae organ was a surprise and very creative. BTW, Janice could watch old B&W movies for an eternity or two smile
